Welcome to BME Transplant Network

BME Transplant Network (BMETN)

The Black and Minority Ethnic Transplant Network (BME Transplant Network) is a national transplant network of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in UK. This includes individuals who are awaiting, or have had a tissue or organ transplant, together with anyone who is receiving treatment at a transplant clinic in UK following transplantation elsewhere and Carers.

Mission

The Mission of the BME Transplant Network is to increase the number of black and minority ethnic (BME) tissue and organ donors and reducing the rate of those needing tissue and organ transplants.

BME Transplant Network will achieve its mission by designing and implementing a national information and education campaign that emphasises both prevention and intervention strategies that result in:

  • healthier life styles and behavioural patterns;
  • increased number of minority ethnic donors and transplant recipients;
  • increased number of religious, cultural, social and family discussions regarding organ and tissue transplants;
